Communication Design
Design Statement: As a child, my head was always high up in the clouds, and my nose far deep into my sketchbooks. So much so, that when I told my mother I’d wanted to pursue a career in Economics, she simply laughed. She told me she knew exactly what I was really supposed to do. A year after that, I enrolled in Communication Design. Throughout the next four years I learnt that good things come to those who don’t just embrace their quirks, but leaning fully into what makes you different. I allowed myself to acquire multiple skills and quickly found myself diving headfirst into all things weird, wild and wonderfully complex! My work explores the emotions and the strangeness that make us human. What comes next in my creative journey? I don’t know – but I can’t wait to find out!
Project Overview: Animal rescue is often driven by compassion, but the process can be difficult, fragmented, and emotionally demanding. Shelters may face overcrowding, rescuers often work with limited support, and many people personally fund urgent care, feeding, fostering, and rehoming efforts. Maow believes helping animals should feel more accessible. Reimagining the rescuer as an everyday person, Maow creates a platform that makes animal support more engaging, rewarding, and community driven. Whether through fostering, feeding, or adoption, Maow transforms the rescue tasks into a portable system that encourages connection, participation, and care, showing that saving a life can begin with anyone.
