MA Interior Architecture and Design
Design Statement: Interior design is rooted in creating meaningful, human-centered environments that respond to both functional needs and emotional wellbeing. Spaces have the power to influence behaviour, experience, and quality of life, particularly in contexts that support healing, learning, and community interaction. My design process combines research, spatial analysis, and critical thinking to develop solutions that are context-sensitive, sustainable, and socially inclusive. I am particularly interested in the relationship between nature, wellbeing, and interior environments, and how biophilic strategies can enhance user experience. Through thoughtful materiality, spatial planning, and sensory engagement, I aim to create interiors that are not only efficient and aesthetically refined, but also purposeful, restorative, and adaptable to changing human needs.
Project Overview: Triad of Harmony Pavilion is envisioned as an atmospheric wellness intervention within Jebel Ali’s industrial landscape. It responds to the need for restorative public spaces in an environment shaped by congestion, labour intensity, and spatial restriction. Inspired by the Triquetra, the design symbolically unites mind, body, and soul through three interlocking canopy forms that express balance, continuity, and collective wellbeing. Recycled plastic panels are transformed into leaf-cell-inspired patterned screens, creating filtered shade, visual softness, and a sense of ecological awareness. Bamboo joinery, timber decking, planting, water, and informal seating create a calm micro-environment for reflection, pause, and social interaction. Through this, the pavilion redefines architecture as therapeutic infrastructure that supports physical comfort, emotional renewal, and sustainable urban resilience.
