Design Statement: Design can be understood as an act of empathy toward human experience. This perspective is rooted in the belief that surroundings deeply influence our internal state and our willingness to engage with others. The physical qualities of a space can help replace anonymity with a sense of personal relevance and belonging. Through thoughtful spatial design, I aim to create environments can encourage people to move beyond isolation and into shared experience. Architecture should support emotional wellbeing and social connection. A simple journey through a building can become an opportunity for encounter, creativity, and meaningful discovery.
Project Overview: A growing sense of isolation within busy cities has created the need for places that encourage genuine human connection. The Collective Arts Center responds to this by using art for bringing people together. The design creates an inviting environment where the creative process is visible to everyone. Open workshops and interconnected public areas encourage spontaneous social interactions, allowing people from different backgrounds to engage through shared creative experiences. By prioritizing collective expression and social exchange, the project creates a “third place” where art becomes a catalyst for belonging, connection, and community.
