The Crisis of Capacity

Design Statement: Spaces are meant to be lived in and experienced, rather than passively observed. Design should prioritize narrative, depth, and user experience over trends, creating environments that are characterful, purposeful, and memorable. My design approach is strongly influenced by storytelling, often drawing inspiration from music, literature, and art. I am interested in creating spaces that respond to human behaviour and evolve through use, allowing flexibility while maintaining a strong conceptual foundation. This project reflects my belief that spaces should invite interpretation, encourage engagement, and create meaningful experiences. Ultimately, my work seeks to design environments that are not only functional, but also emotionally and intellectually engaging for the users.

Project Overview: This project reimagines journalism as a physical and spatial experience, grounding the production and engagement of information in materiality, movement, and sequence. The space is organized as a gradual transition from density to openness, reflecting the journey from information gathering and production to reflection and public engagement. By emphasizing analogue practices such as printing, archiving, the institute restores a sense of intention, permanence, and depth to the way information is experienced. The result is a space that not only supports journalism, but also reshapes how people engage with it, encouraging slower attention, deeper focus, and a more thoughtful relationship with content.
